Pharmacy

The Jewish Home has a licensed hospital pharmacy on-site. The pharmacy provides convenient, personalized pharmaceutical services, 24-hours a day, seven days a week, as part of the Home's delivery of services to our residents.

On-site pharmacists ensure residents receive optimal drug therapy.

Overview of Services:

• The pharmacy is fully computerized. All orders are screened for clinical incompatibilities and drug interactions
• The pharmacy is able to respond to medication requirements for new residents as well as STAT orders (orders needed immediately)
• On-site pharmacist provides clinical pharmacy services to ensure residents receive optimal drug therapy
• Nursing floors are inspected monthly for proper medication storage and medication administration procedures
• The pharmacy provides a number of clinical services that increase the quality of care for the residents:
  • Participation in several patient-care committees: initial care plan meetings and end-of-life care meetings, and is part of the Pain Control Committee
  • Member of the Anticoagulation Team
  • Member of the Psychiatric Team
  • Monthly drug regimen reviews: a pharmacist reviews medication therapy for each resident on a monthly basis. Evaluations are sent for review to either the attending physician or the nursing staff, depending upon the finding
  • Drug information and consultation are provided to the medical and nursing staff, and to residents and their families, upon request
